How long does it take to move to Croatia?

Croatia is a popular destination for more than 10 million tourists annually, partly due to its pleasant Mediterranean climate.
Particularly attractive are the beaches along the Adriatic coast (Dalmatia, Istria), the national parks and the cities of Dubrovnik, Split, Rijeka, Zagreb and some others, where much medieval flair has been preserved.
In Zagreb (pop. 800,000) there is even a German International School. For longer stays as well as for the purpose of taking up employment, one must report to the responsible police authority no later than 8 days after the expiry of the 90 days. They will then issue you a residence permit in the form of a biometric residence card for 5 years.

Like any foreign move, moving to Croatia is a challenge.
Then there is the language.Advantage: Many Croats speak German. The language is a standard variety from the South Slavic branch of the Slavic languages and, like Bosnian and Serbian, is based on a štokav dialect. With Croatia's accession to the EU on 1 July 2013, the Croatian language became the 24th official language of the European Union. Labour market: As an EU citizen, one can work in Croatia without a work permit. There is a shortage of skilled workers in some areas due to emigration, such as in the medical sector or shipbuilding. The unemployment rate for 2017 was 11 per cent. Many German and Austrian, but also Croatian companies have set up shop, especially in the urban areas, and created new jobs. Tourism on the coast is booming, and an end to the growth is not yet in sight.

Most people who move to Croatia from Germany usually bring a large part of their possessions with them. However, to ensure that not only the transport, but the entire move goes off without complications, you should take care of the formalities as best you can beforehand.

Croatia

Croatia is a state in the transition zone between Central and South-Eastern Europe. Croatia is a member of the European Union, NATO, the World Trade Organisation, the OSCE and the United Nations. The capital and largest city is Zagreb; other major cities include Split, Rijeka and Osijek.

The national territory lies east of the Adriatic Sea and partly in the southwest of the Pannonian Plain. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east and Montenegro to the southeast. The area of the former Republic of Ragusa (Dubrovacka Republika), which today makes up the southernmost part of the state, has no direct land connection to the rest of the national territory, as the few kilometres wide sea access of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in between; the area around Dubrovnik thus forms the only exclave of the country. Croatia's land area of about 56,500 square kilometres is roughly twice the size of Brandenburg. The land area includes part of the Dinarides and the Pannonian Plain.

The climate in the interior and north-east of Croatia is mainly continental. The average daily maximum temperature in the lowlands is around 28 °C in summer and around 5 °C in winter. The average minimum temperatures are below 0 °C in winter. Annual precipitation is about 750 millimetresThe official language in Croatia is the standard Croatian language. Croatian or Serbo-Croatian is understood and spoken almost everywhere in the country.

Form of government:
Croatia is a parliamentary republicIn October 2001, Croatia signed a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European UnionIt ensures Croatia free access to the European Single Market, but also requires extensive economic and social reforms. The change of the economic system from socialism to a social market economy entailed numerous economic policy measures.
The European Parliament approved accession in December 2011. The Constitution of December 1990 (Ustav Republike Hrvatske) defines the Republic of Croatia (Republika Hrvatska) as a state of the Croatian people and national minorities. As structural principles, it specifies the principles of democracy as well as the rule of law, social welfare and a unitary state. The originally presidential-democratic system of government was transformed into a parliamentary democracy in 2000.
Croatia's gross domestic product (GDP) was 45.8 billion euros in 2016. The gross domestic product per capita in the same year was 10,992 euros. After the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2007, the country was in crisis for years. Croatia lost about one sixth of its economic power by 2014. Since 2015, however, there have been increasing signs of economic recovery.
