Moving to Namibia, like any foreign move, is a challenge. In addition, there is the language of transport and distances.

Often, modes of transport are used in combination, the most important by air freight and your remaining goods by sea freight or overland.

Today's Namibians are a mixture of different but partly related peoples, most of whom resettled in the area as a result of several migrations between the 16th and 18th centuries. This diversity of the population is also reflected in the languages spoken.

There are three major language groups, the Bantu languages, the Khoisan languages (e.g. the Haiǁom) and the Indo-European languages, with over 30 individual languages or dialects.

The official language is English. Various national languages, including German.

Most people who move to Namibia from Germany usually bring a large part of their possessions with them. However, in order to ensure that not only the transport, but the entire relocation goes off without complications, it is advisable to take care of the formalities as well as possible beforehand.

Namibia

Namibia in southern Africa between Angola, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and the Atlantic Ocean. A border of up to 100 metres - and thus the only four-country corner on earth - with Zimbabwe is disputed.

The arid landscape was originally inhabited by the San ("Bushman") and Damara peoples. From about the 14th century, Bantu people migrated into the country in the course of the Bantu migration. The area of present-day Namibia became a German "protectorate" in 1884 and remained a German colony called German South-West Africa until the end of the First World War.

Namibia is sparsely populated due to the large area of Namib Desert. The country has about 2.1 million inhabitants. 18 percent of the population live below the Namibian poverty line Namibia is bordered by the Kalahari to the east towards Botswana, the Orange River to the south towards South Africa, the South Atlantic to the west and the Kunene and Okavango rivers to the north towards Angola. In the north-east, there is also a land finger about 450 km long and up to 50 km wide between the neighbouring countries of Angola and Zambia to the north and Botswana to the south - the Caprivi Strip, which is bordered by the Zambezi River and the lower reaches of the Kwando River to the east.

The entire national territory of Namibia covers approximately 824,292 square kilometres. Namibia's landscape is essentially characterised by two deserts, the Namib in the west, which extends from the South African province of the Northern Cape far into Angola, and the Kalahari in the east.

The average climate of Namibia is hot and dry. The largely arid climate is subtropical continental. There are great differences between the individual parts of the country.

Form of government:
Namibia is a republic Namibia has been a republic with a semi-presidential system of government since 1990. The vote on this took place in 1989, which can also be seen as the beginning of independence. The head of state is the president, who is elected every five years. The Namibian government consists of a prime minister who, together with the cabinet, is appointed by the president.

According to President Hage Geingob, the guiding principle of the country's foreign policy is to have "no enemies and only friends". The country tries to have balanced diplomatic relations and, due to its own history, feels committed to multilateral cooperation.

The most important foreign policy reference point for Namibia is its large neighbour South Africa, which is by far the country's most important trading partner. Namibia is linked to South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland through the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).

In addition to regional cooperation, membership in the Commonwealth of Nations and relations with the European Union, the People's Republic of China, the United States and North Korea are important.
